Historic Event at Our Lady of The Angels Cathedral

The Board of Directors of the Queen of Angels Foundation is pleased to announce that it has received permission from the Los Angeles Archdiocese and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels to sponsor a grand Marian Procession, votive Mass and reception following the Mass in honor of Our Lady of the Angels, at the Cathedral that bears her name, on September 3, 2011.

This will celebrate the birthday of Los Angeles on September 4, 1781 and the ultimate foundation of the Archdiocese, which recognizes September 4th as the feast day for Our Lady of the Angels as the Protectress of the Archdiocese and the City it serves.

Members of lay Catholic orders are requested to participate in full regalia (robes, uniforms, etc.), as a grand European-style procession is planned, with a processional crucifix and statue of Our Lady, banners, flags and bagpipers. It will proceed from the Cathedral Plaza and culminate in a votive Mass invoking God’s protection for the City and Archdiocese carrying Our Lady’s name, and for our new Archbishop, Jose Gomez, as he leads his flock into the New Evangelization.

Grand Marian Procession begins from La Placita and proceeds to the New Cathedral where at 4:30 pm in the Plaza of the Cathedral, a Rosary will be said. Then at 5:00pm, there will be the procession into the Cathedral, and at 5:30pm there will be a Votive Mass. After the mass at 6:45pm, there will be a reception in the Cathedral Plaza.

All members of Los Pobladores are invited to attend.  Please wear your Spanish ataire.  This will include the Knights of Columbus and other organizations.
